walking away before its done

So, for the last 8 weeks I have been working on the musical Little Mermaid for Childrens Musical Theater in Fresno, CA. Ive been costuming for this company off and on over the last 10 years, and I love it! I work with kids from 6 to 22 and sometimes adults. I recently moved to Monterey (about 2 1/2 hours away) but still agreed to work on this show... and its a biggie! Not being in Fresno meant I did not get to see rehearsals, I had to work with seamstresses and helpers over the phone or on frenzied weekends to get the designs into reality. I just had to walk away from my 4 super dedicated and capable helpers for tech week as I had to come back to monterey to work and my daughter to go to school. If you know theater you know that tech week is all about dress rehearsals, working with costumes and props, figuring out quick changes and adjusting the overall 'look' of each scene...and I wont be there to help.... I feel aweful, even though I left with just a few things to finish... I know they will do fine, but still...

Mermaid tails and octopus tenticals

I am up to my eyeballs in mermaid tails and octopus tenticals! we are in the final week of costuming for a premier of Little Mermaid Jr. with kids 11-18. I am designer and costumer of the show with 4 other very dedicated seamstresses, designers and crafters that happen to be moms of kids in the show. I have been working on Ursela for 4 weeks along with all of the ensemble cast, seagulls, flotsam and jetsam, and of course Sebastian and Flounder. The other moms are working on tails and I cant wait to post photos of the work, they are amazing!!!
